A Training Kit on Shyness in Children
Shyness in Children
Shyness is considered one of the natural factors in forming a child's personality, just like the ordinary feeling of fear, stress, or sadness. Shyness becomes an obstacle for the child if it exceeds a reasonable limit and is not treated in the correct way, as it will affect his social life and the forming of friendships, whether at school or in the surrounding community, and it may also affect his academic level, leading to its decline.
Shyness is an emotional state that affects a child upon contact with others, involving a feeling of inadequacy and defect, accompanied by a feeling of anxiety and discomfort, in situations that do not call for this in a normal child. It appears in the form of physical symptoms, such as flushing of the face, shortness of breath, and a feeling of nausea or trembling, and behavioural symptoms, such as a lack of social skills and self-confidence, clinging to parents and depending on them in the simplest matters, and withdrawing from social situations to avoid comments and to escape people's gaze.
