A Training Kit on Speech and Language Disorders
Speech and Language Disorders
Speech and articulation are among the most important matters whose development in a child must be monitored, since learning spoken language is the cornerstone of communication and future knowledge. From birth, the child begins receiving sounds, hearing them, learning them, and storing them, before starting to use them and express himself through speech. Although the development of the ability to speak and articulate varies and ranges individually from one child to another, in general the first words a child utters occur at around the age of one year, after which the child's ability develops to form short sentences and attempt to use them to convey his various ideas.
