Mental health .... what is it?
The harmony among psychological functions, or the ability to face the psychological crises that confront an individual, followed by a positive feeling of happiness and satisfaction with oneself and the environment.
The Importance of Mental Health
Mental health is very important for the individual, as on one hand it leads to achieving harmony, consistency, and integration among the characteristics of an individual's personality in its mental and emotional aspects, and it also contributes to investing their various energies to the fullest in a way that achieves their goals in life and makes them feel their own being and existence. It is therefore the basis for a person's practice of their role in life; the student, the teacher, the worker, and the doctor cannot each perform their role as required without enjoying mental health.
The Difference Between the Positive and Negative Concepts of Mental Health
The Negative Concept:
Freedom from the symptoms of mental or psychological illness (the absence of symptoms of mental or psychological illness).
It limits the concept of mental health to being free of symptoms of mental or psychological illness, which is consistent with the mentally and psychologically ill patient, since they do not enjoy mental health.
It limits it to one side only, as there are many people free of symptoms of mental or psychological illness but who are not successful in their lives.
The Positive Concept:
The psychological state characterised by relative stability, in which the individual is satisfied with themselves and accepting of themselves and others (achieving personal and social harmony and emotional balance), that is, living a life free of crisis and turmoil, and being positive, creative, and innovative. Such a person is well-adjusted.
The Most Important Strategies for Maintaining Mental Health
Sleeping well at night is important for our psychological and physical wellbeing. Our sleep schedules, sleep habits, and daily lifestyle choices can make a huge difference in the quality of rest during the night.
The good quality of a person's sleep is not related to the length of sleep, but to the amount of "deep sleep" they get.
Try the deep breathing technique. For example, take a comfortable position and take a deep breath in, then breathe out slowly (make the exhale longer than the inhale). Repeat as needed to enhance relaxation
Try to do some daily physical exercise, as this will improve sleep quality, as long as this exercise is not done too late in the evening.
Self worth comes from one thing,
believing that you are a person of value. This is how the American writer Wayne Dyer weighed self worth. As long as you look at yourself with an optimistic view, you will inevitably become great in your own eyes first, and in the eyes of others, with respect and appreciation for you. Unfortunately, however, we find that many people place themselves on the lowest shelves of worth. They despise themselves and belittle themselves, and their condition may even reach the point of elaborate forms of self torture, self blame, and guilt.
