Description

Teaching thinking skills has come to occupy a prominent place in the thinking of educators, experts and curriculum designers because of its importance, as pupils, facing an increasingly complex future, need higher-order skills in decision-making, choice-making and problem-solving. This training kit addresses the concept of thinking as the search for meaning, and the discovery of experience and giving it meaning in order to reach understanding, make a decision or solve a problem.

The kit also reviews the importance of teaching thinking skills in giving students the opportunity to see things more clearly and broadly, developing a more creative outlook in problem-solving, and enabling them to engage in positive thinking that leads to new ideas and turns them into logical thinkers, with a focus on developing higher-order thinking skills and employing active learning in mathematics to achieve a deeper understanding of mathematical concepts. This kit is a practical reference for teachers wishing to develop their students' thinking skills in mathematics.

Objectives

  • Identifying the concept of thinking and its importance in facing increasingly complex future challenges.
  • Understanding the importance of teaching thinking skills in developing students' ability to solve problems creatively.
  • Developing students' higher-order thinking skills through mathematical activities that stimulate logical thinking.
  • Employing active learning in mathematics to turn students into logical, positive thinkers.
