Training Kit on Domestic Violence
The phenomenon of domestic violence is one of the social phenomena widespread in all contemporary human societies, and it is known that Arab and Islamic societies are not immune to the problems occurring in this era, which has been dominated by modern technologies and in which the information revolution has exploded, making us surprised at every turn by newly emerging patterns that appear for the first time and take shape as a separate crime or as aggressive behaviour directed against others, causing material, psychological and social harm and effects.
The Family:
The concept of the family is one of the concepts that overlaps with many scientific disciplines such as sociology, law, economics, genetics, embryology and anatomy, in addition to its use to refer to large comprehensive family formations such as the extended and composite family, and also to simple family formations such as the nuclear family.
The Importance of the Family:
Building society and its cohesion
Raising generations
Developing social values
Family Values:
Islam came with rulings and legislations suitable for every time and place, and no ruling that God legislated is without wisdom, the achievement of benefit and the prevention of harm. Islam has urged adherence to and acting upon what came in the Quranic verses and prophetic hadiths because of the beneficial effects that result from them, returning to the individual, to the family, to the nation, and to humankind as a whole.
The Importance of Family Values in Life:
There is no doubt that the Book of God, Glorified and Exalted, is rich in legislation, rulings and teachings that help people organise their lives and clarify their relationships with others. The Noble Quran calls on people to adhere to Islamic values and to adopt upright teachings. These are the lofty values by which human life rises in all its political and economic fields, as well as in its family fields.
Types of Domestic Violence:
First: Physical violence.
Second: Psychological and emotional violence.
Third: Sexual violence.
Fourth: Verbal violence.
Causes and Motives of Domestic Violence:
Weak Religious Conscience:
The religious conscience is an inner matter that reminds the Muslim of God, for it exists within the Muslim's inner self, arising from knowledge of God and fear of Him, and this conscience was called in the authentic hadith "God's admonisher in the heart of the Muslim".
Faulty Upbringing:
This is the upbringing that an individual receives in their environment, society and family, which portrays the act of violence to them as if it were something natural that happens in every household in which each family lives, and the husband may have been raised on violence since childhood, which makes this matter imprinted in his mind and makes him more prone to practising this violence in the future.
Psychological Factors:
This is the venting of psychological emotions by the person carrying out the violent behaviour, which is the psychologically abused person's feeling, in their daily life, of anger and pressure they encounter from society, especially from their superiors at work, alongside the feeling of jealousy, which is a complex emotion made up of possessiveness and anger.
