ويُعرّف النمو بأنه سلسلة متتابعة من التغيرات تتجه بالإنسان نحو النضج من جميع النواحي، وتحدث بترتيب معين يمكن التنبؤ به. ومن أبرز مبادئه أنه يتأثر بالظروف الداخلية والخارجية، ويسير في مراحل وبسرعات مختلفة، وهو ما يجعل الفروق الفردية حقيقة واضحة في كل صف.
