Training Kit on How to Deal with People with Hearing Disabilities
Education and language acquisition are fundamentally linked to the sense of hearing, as a person receives most skills and knowledge through hearing. Indeed, imitating sounds and learning speech only occurs through hearing, which is why a deaf student cannot speak, due to their inability to hear sounds. The sense of hearing therefore has primary importance in learning, and the Noble Qur'an gives precedence to the sense of hearing over the other senses in many of its verses:
God Almighty says: ("And He made for you hearing, sight and hearts, that you might give thanks.") (An-Nahl, 78)
And God Almighty says: ("Indeed, the hearing, the sight and the heart, about all of these one will be questioned.") (Al-Isra, 36)
