What is meant here is: the results of one's work, not the work itself, because the impact is a product of the work and subordinate to it, and is not necessarily the work itself. For how much work has had its impact cut off, or has no impact at all? Do you not see that Allah the Almighty said: (And We record what they have put forth and their traces. And all things We have enumerated in a clear register) — what they put forth are the deeds, good or bad, and the traces are the consequences of the results of those deeds.
