Training Kit on Preparing Frequently Asked Questions and Common Errors
Tests
A set of questions presented to students to answer.
An organisational procedure in which pupils are observed and it is verified to what extent they have achieved the intended objectives, with responses described using numerical scales.
It is the tool used to measure knowledge, understanding, and skill in a specific academic subject or group of subjects.
An organised means aimed at measuring the amount of information a student has memorised, or recalls, in a field of knowledge, and it also indicates their ability to understand, apply, analyse, and make use of it in different life situations.
Its Specifications:
A good test is characterised by a number of qualities, including:
Validity: this means the test measuring what it was designed to measure. For example, if a test is designed to measure the achievement ability of seventh grade students in science, it must measure the ability it was designed for; if instead it measures students' attitudes towards the science subject, it is not a valid test.
Reliability: this means that a student's relative standing does not change if the test is repeated on the same student. This means the stability of results when the test, or equivalent versions of it, are applied repeatedly to the same group of individuals.
Objectivity: this means that the examinee's results are not affected by the subjectivity of the grader.
Comprehensiveness: this means that the test is comprehensive of the teaching objectives it is intended to measure.
