Training Kit on Crisis Management
The need has arisen in the modern era for an independent science concerned with crises and disasters, and how to manage and confront them, called "the science of crisis and disaster management", a science founded, like other sciences, on a set of scientific foundations, principles and concepts of its own.
Crisis Management
The Administrative Encyclopaedia gave a definition of crisis management as "preserving the organisation's assets and property, and its ability to generate revenue, as well as protecting the individuals and employees within it against various risks, and working to avoid potential risks or mitigate their impact on the organisation, in the event that they cannot be avoided entirely"; this also applies to the state and its administrations.
The Four Stages of Crisis Management
During one of the most turbulent crisis periods, organisations were forced to face multiple crises ranging from protecting the physical health of their members, to determining how to balance additional budget losses, to measuring the effectiveness of virtual work. Cooperation and partnership between the organisation's departments and its employees can be a saving grace for the institution during these difficult times.
Therefore, there are four stages of crisis management that can help maintain focus on the institution's mission and its long-term goals:
Mitigation.
Preparedness.
Response.
Recovery.
Executive managers, crisis management teams, and corporate communications officers.
