Training Kit on Measurement
The Education and Training Evaluation Commission announced the launch of standardised tests for graduates of higher education institutions, as part of the "Readiness" programme for raising the readiness of higher education graduates for the labour market. These tests, which are applied for the first time in the history of higher education in the Kingdom, aim to measure and support the improvement of the achievement of bachelor's students expected to graduate, and to understand the quality of the outcomes of universities and colleges, without this affecting students' passing or failing.
The Concept of the Standardised Test in Higher Education:
It is a type of test administered to students in the final year or the year approaching graduation. The standardised test aims to measure the extent to which students achieve the outcomes expected of them, or in other words, their ability to acquire the knowledge and skills they should possess upon completing their study programme.
The Importance of Professional and Standardised Tests in Higher Education:
Measuring Academic Achievement:
Standardised tests help measure the extent to which students achieve the expected educational outcomes. They give students the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge and skills in various fields of knowledge, which helps in assessing their level of academic achievement.
Measuring Level and Fair Assessment:
Professional and standardised tests help measure the extent to which students achieve the standards and skills required in their fields of study. These tests provide an objective means of assessing performance and determining the extent to which educational and professional objectives are achieved.
Assessing the Quality of Education:
Standardised tests are used to assess the quality of educational programmes and their effectiveness in achieving expected outcomes. Through analysing test results, areas that need improvement and development can be identified, enhancing the quality of the educational process.
Objectives of Standardised Tests:
Measuring the extent to which the skills necessary for employment are achieved among the targeted students, as required by the labour market.
Evaluating the quality of learning outcomes in academic programmes.
Measuring a number of indicators related to the quality of education, learning and evaluation, and preparing improvement plans related to them.
University graduates, and supervisors of job-readiness programmes.
