Institutional Restructuring Training Kit
A kit on managing organisational change and crises, diagnosing institutional failure, and the concepts, reasons and methods of administrative and financial restructuring.
The phenomenon of entrepreneurship is one of the most important indicators of social awareness and maturity in a society's development policies, plans, and programmes, as advanced societies view entrepreneurs as leadership role models to be emulated, given the work they do, the achievements they attain, and the investment and employment opportunities they provide for successive generations of society.
When thinking of entrepreneurship and innovators, people such as Steve Jobs, Elon Musk, and Thomas Edison may come to mind. Each of them contributes to society in their own individual way. They have changed the way we live. However, there are thousands of other entrepreneurs who have all contributed to improving our standard of living.
People in leadership and managerial positions must possess certain qualities that enable them to fully carry out their roles, and the following are some of these qualities:
-
Successful entrepreneurs are always curious, which allows them to continuously search for new opportunities. Instead of staying with or settling on what they already know, they prefer to search for what is new, and entrepreneurs usually ask difficult questions to find these opportunities.
-
There is an urgent need to conduct structured experiments with every new opportunity that appears before entrepreneurs, in order to test and evaluate available opportunities and determine which ones are useful, so as to take the appropriate actions afterwards and turn them into reality, such as finding an idea, product, or service that meets a demand or need not fully served in the market. You would then need to conduct comprehensive market research and run useful tests to verify the quality of these ideas or products.
-
It is difficult to prepare for all the scenarios entrepreneurs may face, as the nature of their work is constantly changing. Therefore, entrepreneurs need to assess situations and adapt to them so that their businesses can move forward when encountering unexpected changes.
-
This means making difficult decisions, as an entrepreneur is a person responsible for running the business fully, including its financial and strategic aspects. Therefore, an entrepreneur must be decisive in making decisions with full confidence, following through on them, and bearing their consequences.
-
An entrepreneur builds good teams to complement what they do and support them in achieving business goals as well as their personal goals. It is essential that entrepreneurs surround themselves with colleagues who have complementary abilities and talents, which contributes to achieving these shared goals.
-
Entrepreneurship is often associated with risk, but in reality, setting up a project or business requires an entrepreneur who is able to take risks, and therefore needs to take steps to reduce these risks.
-
Entrepreneurs must not give up easily, and they should view failure as an opportunity to learn and grow again, and they must be prepared to learn from their mistakes.
-
Innovation goes hand in hand with the idea of entrepreneurship. Innovation is a trait possessed by some entrepreneurs, not all of them, and therefore the process of acquiring companies that produce creative ideas may be somewhat misguided.
