Investing in Talent Training Kit
A kit on investing in talent at the level of the family, school and organisations, covering why it matters, how to identify gifted individuals, and models for nurturing talent.
Talent is a blessing from God that He bestows on whomever He wills, and in order to preserve it, it must be supported and always cared for so that it develops and endures. Talented individuals need people who value their talent and steer away from the method of rote instruction, and who focus on practical application and use the method of motivation to encourage them towards innovation and renewal. The discovery of talent usually begins with parents and family, then with the school. The gifted have a prominent future and a profound impact on the nation's development, progress and excellence, so we must care for them, provide them with psychological, social and health care, and develop guidance programmes that guarantee them integrated psychological, mental and social growth.
Linguistically, it means: a gift, "mawhibah" with a kasrah on the ha, i.e. prepared and capable; "awhaba laka al-shay'" means he prepared it for you; "awhaba laka al-shay'" also means if it endures; and "al-mawhibah" is from "wahabahu Allah al-shay'", meaning He granted it to him as a gift.
Teachers, school counsellors, and anyone involved in supporting gifted students.
