Investing in Talent Training Kit
A kit on investing in talent at the level of the family, school and organisations, covering why it matters, how to identify gifted individuals, and models for nurturing talent.
Self-monitoring is one effective means among the many and varied means of correcting oneself and fixing one's mistakes and lapses, since the law that punishes transgressions cannot alone build an organisation or a balanced society based on equality, equal opportunity and the other elements that contribute to creating a successful society; rather, there must be a fundamental role for self-correction through developing a person's virtuous disposition.
Self-monitoring is an inner feeling stemming from the strength of an individual's religious conscience and their belief in their Creator, which drives them to watch over themselves in all their conduct and hold themselves accountable, out of fear of God's punishment and hope for His reward.
An individual monitoring themselves and holding themselves accountable for their conduct and behaviour, and verifying the effectiveness of their performance, is useful in achieving important outcomes for the individual, the organisation and society. Among the most important of these outcomes are the following:
It develops the individual's sense of holding themselves accountable for every act, small or large.
It helps the individual discover their own mistakes, in order to address them, overcome them, and avoid falling into them again.
It develops the individual's sense of responsibility towards the work they do and the tasks they perform.
It calls for the pursuit of noble character and virtuous deeds, since self-monitoring affirms that a person is responsible for their actions and deeds before themselves, not out of fear of others.
It creates a spirit of cooperation, affection and love among members of society, and organises their lives.
The ability to recognise shortcomings directly, because the individual knows themselves best and is best able to identify their own strengths and weaknesses.
The effective treatment of shortcomings as well, since the individual may be able to identify ways to address the problems they face, or at least help specialists achieve that.
It reduces reliance on external oversight and lessens the need for its complex methods.
It helps develop performance, because a mature individual does not merely recognise their mistakes or shortcomings, but seeks to overcome them and develop their abilities and capacities to prevent the recurrence of mistakes in the future.
Employees, supervisors and department heads, and anyone interested in self-development.
