Empowering Volunteer Leaders Training Kit
A kit on leading and managing volunteer work, covering the concept and culture of volunteering, volunteers' rights, duties and motivations, and how to recruit, manage and motivate them.
Innovation has become a topic of discussion for academics and researchers at every educational conference, both regionally and globally, perhaps most notably the World Innovation Summit for Education (WISE), which has become an important occasion for exploring ways to develop education by discussing fresh ideas and pioneering initiatives, and through the recommendations produced by the many workshops that bring together and are organised by global experts.
Innovation does not happen independently; it requires directed and organised efforts to find opportunities, build capabilities, and overcome obstacles. The following steps have been set out to begin the innovation journey within the organisation
-
Reviewing the organisation's vision, mission, and overall objectives, and ensuring that opportunities for innovation are considered during planning
-
Forming groups that share the same interests and developing relationships within and outside the government sector, in order to exchange experiences and develop knowledge related to innovation.
-
Strengthening relationships with non-governmental entities, such as external partners and clients, in order to learn about their ideas and benefit from their innovative capabilities.
-
Considering the set of skills, mechanisms, and culture the organisation needs to work in an innovative way, and encouraging or employing people who have the necessary motivation and capabilities.
-
Encouraging individuals to innovate and rewarding them, while granting them the freedom to explore, by providing spaces that stimulate innovation, such as dedicated programmes or spaces, where experimentation is allowed that in turn supports the innovation process.
-
Sharing the public's trust through transparency and by making sources of information available to everyone. Continuously measuring impact, exchanging experiences, evaluating and linking success to figures whenever possible, and sharing knowledge with others to improve the innovation process overall.
Education managers, teachers and educational supervisors, and those interested in institutional innovation.
